Does he have any positive male role models in his life? I'm certain he would benefit from regular interactions with an adult male figure that could he relate to.

I used to work with groups of five to eight-year olds in after-school programs and I always noticed how the boys responded to the (few) male counselors. There was a natural almost instantaneous deference to their authority whereas with the female counselors, it would take double the effort to get them to listen and behave.

This is not a judgement on your lifestyle and I mean no disrespect, but your son needs access to healthy, masculine energy.
